In a recent study by the GAO it was found the 94% (330 out of 353) of NCAA D1 Athletic Departments are operating at a financial deficit. In a deeper dive by Investigate TV, only 10 athletic departments were found to be truly operating in the black without any financial backing from student fees and general university funds. If you want the list of 10, DM me and I’d be happy to send.

With less dollars to go around, several industries which used to run parallel with one another are now morphing to prove versatile enough to solve multiple problems at one time. for colleges It’s no longer a siloed approach to providing a service for athletic departments- an opening occurs at an Athletic Director level and 1 of the 500 Executive Search Firms in the Collegiate Sports space comes to the rescue… those days are over. Even in those days … 500 firms battling for the same $ is daunting.

Without giving away all of the answers, I’ll provide below the industry, the volume of competitors and the function of each, who have all thrown theirs hats in the same ring to solve a problem much bigger than “we have an opening, let’s fill it”. EVERY DAY AD’s and Presidents are receiving 1000’s of solicitations from companies in the form of “friends” with the “solution” to the crisis facing college athletics. Having stated that, I want to personally thank the countless University leaders that have spent time with me by phone and now in person, to explore the method I have designed for PEAK SCOUTS. Here’s whose vying for 15 min on the phone everyday.

  • Executive Search in the collegiate space dealing with 6 figure salaries- 500 plus firms
  • NIL firms- Over 400
  • Private Equity Firms (US BASED only) – 19,000 plus
  • Financial Advisement Firms- 330,000
  • Sport Tech Companies- 200 very high level (there are many more in total)
  • End to End Companies- 240 high end (there are many more in total)
  • Executive Leadership Training- Rough estimate here in the 1000’s
  • Certified Agents- 30,000

The market is flooded right now in an industry that clearly has a restricted funnel for spending. In the recent past all of the industries above had their clear lanes to impact college sports in their specialty field.

So how is PEAK SCOUTS positioned to navigate the new landscape?

I feel that through examining the pitfalls in Executive Search methods that have contributed to these issues of overspending (i.e. Paying for 3 fired coaches while paying for the current Head Coach), we have created a cradle to grave method of cultivating talent. We take an active role through our process and the result raising both the floor and ceiling for the talent and the position. It’s a true partnership where our value proposition is to raise the value of the individual and the role.

What if you don’t have the $ to pay for us?

We provide a examination of your revenue intake and help you maximize it within the current college sports system. At the same time, we closely work with your revenue allocation and identify & create a proprietary evaluation system- what do you need to max out your spend on and where do you need a “$ BALL” approach to find value in things that might be overlooked in the market. It’s analytics designed to inform your decisions … not dictate them. Let’s help you get back on track and back in the black.

What if you don’t want to replace the leadership role that just left?

Most are doing this to save $ which is OK … but the need for the function of the role still exists at your University. So what happens? Because of the ongoing change of the landscape, College and University leaders are already functioning in positions that they weren’t trained for originally. The job an AD was hired to do 3 years ago, is not the job he is being asked to do today. A traditional executive leadership program is not equipped to come and Tony Robbin’s their way to victory. A full understanding of how the $ flows, along with an in depth description of how duties, communication, and connection currently co-exist need to be indentified. Now, a program like we have with the Razor’s Edge can redesign the alignment of the flow of form and function to match the modern day demands of the industry and max out your leaders before they burn out.

At PEAK SCOUTS we’re problem solvers, deeply rooted in the Talent Partnership. Whether it’s cultivating the talent, getting your resources and revenue aligned, maxed out, and allocated properly, or re-designing the leadership functions to match the industries demands … we have the practitioners to walk hand and hand with you on this much needed organizational reset.

If you think you lack the resources, don’t hesitate to reach out to me here, DM, cell, or our webpage www.peakscouts.com to allow me to give you the paradigm shift towards resourcefulness. Adapt or die.
